General Aerial snapped! DAB replacement?

Hi all
Putting my roof box on to go on holiday yesterday, and tried to unscrew aerial and it sheared off! Looking at replacing it when we get back- looking through forum only the light needs removing rather than whole roof lining?!?

However I do have a DAB radio in the car so might get a DAB roof aerial- if I do I'm guessing lining might need to come out to route wire to radio?
Has anyone else done this?

i have no experience of this but i would assume you could just tuck new lead under the front of the lining,the aerial position only seems to be a few inches in so it should be relatively straight forward, obviously you would have to remove the A-pillar trim.

Had the same problem, aerial base is relatively easy to get at.
Carefully lever the alarm transmitter panel out and undo the screws, remove the overhead console and also the plastic panel above this.
You should now see the triangular base for the aerial, this has two aerial leads and a power feed (Additional aerial lead is for a phone), well over the nearside but doable.
I spliced the new aerial to the old lead to avoid the hassle but left hand a pillar trim comes off easily enough.

I snapped our aerial off a while ago trying to fit it in the victoria centre car park I forgot I was in the multipla doh! the new aerial with base cost a fortune from fiat the screw that holds it on was siezed so I had to drill it out all easy enough with the lights etc removed but Idid have to move the mount to one side that holds the light to the roof. you still got your mini?

Yep still got Mini! In hibernation in garage! Could really do with new wings/doors to make it special, might get round to doing it some time! Will have a go at aerial and see if DAB one or just normal one will fit! Gutted to see MIT day is thus Sun when we are in Filey! Typical!

Just realised what you said- does Multi not fit in Multi storey?!? Haha! Have roof box on now do going nowhere near Multi-stories!
