It has been fun owning my Uno but have just bought another car for some reason which I've still to work out, any guesses - one clue it is another Fiat!, so the UT really must go.

I have a number of parts I've bought for the car, brand new OMP exhaust, Sachs/BOGE shocks and lowering springs (along with new bushes) rear strut brace, Red Dot grooved discs and Ferrodo racing pads, do you think I'm best off fitting these prior to selling, lowering would make the car look meaner and improve the handling immensly and the exhaust should make it sound a bit fruitier, although it sounds quite sweet already, but probably the other parts not worthwhile.

How much do you think I can realistically sell this for? It has MOT until Mid June next year, Tax until 31st May next year. I have recently serviced with Selenia Oil, Oil Filter, Air Filter, Fuel Filter and NGK Sparks. Setup the idle and mixture correctly, it was over rich, so it is running well. I've fixed the chips on the windscreen and the passenger side window now works after I replaced the switch. I've also put new tyres on the back. The car is not in perfect condition, it has a few marks, dints and the odd bit of surface rust the worst being on the roof.

I would really like to sell to a Fiat Enthusiast, the last bloke that almost bought the car, before pulling out because he claimed insurance was £2k, only wanted the car because it was fast, not because he liked Fiats so I suspect it would have been trashed, destroyed and scrapped in a couple of years at best.

Where is the best place to sell other than ebay? Last time it was on ebay, lots of interest and proposals to "releave me of the car" and "take it off my hands" and the usual problems that ebay motors seems to entail....timewasters.

This is not an advert although if anyone is genuinely interested please feel free to PM. I would like the car to go to someone who loves Unos and will fettle and cherish the car rather than destroying it. Where do I find someone like that?

Obviously in the classifieds here but what is the right price? Anywhere else I can advertise? Is it worth fitting the extra parts or selling seperatly - would lowering make the car more sellable or would I be wasting my time?

Just a suggestion maybe put a for sale sign on the car and bring it down to a few fiat nights at ace cafe, you will surely find a decent enthusiast there to take the car off your hands. Other then that put an ad up on turbo collective and maybe on the auto trader website. You dont see many UTs on there but the ones on there are usually very good examples of them and everybody knows the autotrader goes out to a big audience.
As for the parts you may find you lose out if you sell them with the car but selling them separately may take longer in the long run, selling it with the car would be a lot quicker imo. UT parts can take forever to sell.
By the way what new car did you get then???

 F R O $ T Y

Well I put it on gumtree as suggested had atleast 1 genuine call and my wife took a "strange" call from a very foreign sounding person. Probably some fraudster offering to pay by cheque and ship the car out to Nigeria. Tried to list it on Loot and while it said it was all ok it didn't seem to actually acknowledge I'd put it up there. I also chucked it on ebay against my better judgement so we'll see how it goes.

Not long until I collect my new project.....

mate, i dont know why this hasnt gone. id seriously have this off u if i dont have one exactly the same already lol! ive even contiplated buting it and sticking a bid on ebay! but alas, i cant justify it! got enough on with mine and gonna buy a escort cossie next year also to sit along side my UT i just cant do it.

good luck with the sale, not that u will need it

Dunc

I know what you mean. I've decided I can only manage 1 project car and I've lined up this car which I've wanted for a while now, so the UT has got to make way. I think I'll definately have my handsfull with this new car.

I've had quite alot of interest, someones whacked a bid on, looks to be a car dealer judging by their feedback, and a few people to lined up to view Friday and Saturday. I've had interest from one chap, said he was looking for a standard Uno Turbo as a base from a restoration. I reckon this would be ideal and hopefully it'll go to a good home if he buys.

Spent tonight treating the little bits of rust and a few chip it has. Rubbed down the rust with the dremel (love that tool), a bit of Hammerite Krust, Zinc primer and then then colour coat tomorrow morning. It reminds me of the days with my old MG Metro, that was a right rust bucket and a weekly ritual to keep on top of. Saw a Turbo MG Metro for sale the other day, now they must be rare!

Stop fuelling my urge to getting an Uno Turbo  Id be alot more tempted personally if it had the parts fitted already as the main thing thats stopping me getting one is the cost to bring it to a reliable level (considering ive just spent a fortune restoring the cinq to perfect mechanicals) :) Even if they werent fitted but included in teh sale.

what happened to the black mk1 uno? :chin:

Oh I sold that a couple of months ago. I'd done everything I could be bothered and brought it upto roadworthy condition again. The guy that did the MOT test on it commented what excellent condition it was in so I know the couple that bought it got a good car. I didn't get a great deal of money for it but more than doubled my purchase price and paid for my welder bought to repair it.

I've been offered a Pug 205 1.6 GTI for £300, has an MOT until next year. Needs a bit of work, a couple of trim bits, new front fogs and the bonnet needs spraying but it has got to be worth £300. If anyone is interested let me know; the chap wants shot of it from his garage.

An Uno Turbo can be perfectly reliable, my one seems to be. The only thing to fail since my ownership was the flywheel sensor which I've obviously replaced at great expense. I fixed the passenger electric window with a £5 switch off ebay and 2 minutes work to pop it out and fit the new one....don't you just love those sort of repairs!

I've been using it to drive 70miles to work & back everyday for the last 2 1/2 weeks and hasn't missed a beat and isn't even that bad on fuel. The previous owner Mario had connections to the motor trade and was good at keeping ontop of things and serviced the car regularly which has probably helped keep it in good condition.

Just make sure the new owner keep it with Fiat forum

Be a shame to let it go and then hear its been fooked

Off topic: Dunc ya bast! Did you ask that bloke who brought your clio where he lives in london?

Well thepottleflump,

Isn't it great when people offer to 'take it off your hands', like it's such an ordeal... I'm sure the sale will go well, it's all about timing really - hoping that people find it at the right time.

Now... your latest project... it must be a 'classic' FIAT then... perhaps a 124 Spider or maybe an X1/9? Or, 850 Coupe? I was only allowed one guess though, wasn't I! ;)

I must say I was particularly pissed off with this comment. If I had wanted someone to take it off my hands I would have accepted one of the many offers I'd already had.

Anyway the car was sold this morning and has now gone and I've mentioned the forum so you never know he might venture on here.

I'm planning on picking up the new car this afternoon unless something goes wrong. Taking my brother-in-law to cast a 2nd eye over it before I hand over the bulk of the wedge. You are close but not sure it could be described as classic just yet. It was made in the 80's.

Well done on the sale trevor

By the sounds of it you have let it go to a good home

Anyway, as one chapter closes another opens............go on.......what the new car? lol

Cheers, I think it's gone to a good home. The bloke seemed to have good intentions towards it.

Anyway, I might as well tell you about my new project car which is a Fiat Strada Abarth. I'll get some pics up in the members motors section in due course, although the Strada/Rimto section looks rather barren! From what I gather they are quite rare.

I'm sure some peeps love these cars and other will hate them. It is far from the best one in the world but will hopefully be a good base for me to have a play around with. At the moment it's going in the garage while I finish my garden. I can sense a running restoration coming on.
