advice on how to change the ceiling/interior light and replace with leds

hi i hat the yehllow interior light and wish to put in white leds..clear white light at night

thing is im told i can short circuit the fuse etc be blown

what is the best way to do it?

I tried it and the thing kept sparking lol, I tried to cover most of the contact points with electrical tape to minimise contact area but the didn't work either ... I ended up just leaving it, too much hassle.

I used one of these without a problem but i took it out, i prefer the filament bulb

I've had in-line 6 LED units in all three interior lights for 2 years now + one mega 9-LED box style unit in the boot.

No failures/problems or blowing fuses, but they must be fitted the correct way round, or they just won't work.

haha yer i found that out when fitting led's to my sidelights...I presumed they just plugged in..didnt work,turned them around,and they came on lol

Leds have a + and - pole so they cant work both sides.
