hi i'm in the process of changing the clutch on my bravo hgt. i have read in various posts that the nearside driveshaft should just pull out of the gearbox once all the hub components and wishbone are removed but i cant seem to get it out. i attempted to remove the 6 allen key bolts but they're all as tight as **** is there a certain method to removing it from the gearbox? i've been following the marea20v guide posted by bridges but i'm stuck with this driveshaft i'm hoping to have the clutch changed by the end of the day but need help with this. any advice please?

the normal thing to do is to undo the 6 bolts and leave the flange in. You need to go and buy a socket with the correct allen key fixed into it. Don't try and use a bormal allen key. One tip is to put the whel back on loosely, it's then easy to hold against the leverage of loosening the bolts. Ican't remember off-hand but I think the flang is held in like a normal driveshaft, i.e. with a snap-ring. Heavy whack with a chisel requireed. Can't guarantee this is how it's fixed, VW ones are bolted through the middle and are difficult to refit.

hi i undone the bolts and have removed the shaft i managed to snap the head off the rear lower engine/gearbox mount the 18mm was wondering if this will prevent the sub frame from dropping. the 2 13mm holding the bracket on either side of the bolt are still intact and i am able to loosen them i no i'll have to disconnect the mount from engine and gearbox but will the bolt that i snapped prevent the sub frame from dropping or am i good to continue.
the other problem that i have is the rear gear linkage arm i have removed the clip undone the nut and removed the weight on top of the nut but i cant get the arm to come out is there a method to removing it cos i really dont wanna break anything else.

There's usually one of these bolts which seizes and shears off on every Alfa/larger engined fiat I do. I don't quite understand why this will affect the subframe, but I don't undo the subframe anyway. If you're talking about the long stud with the weight on it, that's it removing the clip and weight is all you can do. It's tight, but by moving the engine up and down a bit the box will come out.

thanks for your reply i'm stuck on this gear linkage it just wont budge i've tried to lever it tap it everything it just wont have any of it

Can't actually picture what you mean in my head, but on the tipo the gearchange rods were actually removed by undoing the 10mm nuts under the little ball/socket. Surely yours has cables though?

nah mines hydraulic not cable just hoping the sub frame will still drop even though the screw holding the mount has snapped inside

hi sorry been busy with other issues for weeks now. mine dont have gearchange cables it has rods that connect to each other as far as i can see. i wish i knew how to disconnect the linkage with the weight on it i just dont wanna breAK it i tried disconnecting the other end of the rod but i cant seem to get enough leverage from any position to turn the top and bottom nuts at the same time

I will do cheers 4 the tip its just a case of disconnecting the last linkage its really taking up time and causing problems now
