Nothing too drastic, but I've noticed ever since fitting 17's that my Bravo seems to pull one way or the other sometimes, often when braking. It's very strange because it happens in either direction!

Is this a common side effect? It's not pulling me out of control, but it's bugging me a little bit.

I've not lowered the car yet, will that help at all?

Cheers

!

what you may be experiencing is tramlining. The suspension on your car is set up for 195/55 width tyres and the gearing and feedback accordingly.

If you have put wider tyres on it, you may be feeling more feedback than you originally did, also because the tyres are wider they tend to follow the road more, which is quite noticable under breaking.

Try breaking on a perfect surace, like a new road, or at least a decent even surface and see if the problem is still there.

My Jag XJR-S used to suffer horrendously from this under breaking and fright the **** out of me if I braked at high speed.

This does not rule out any component wear of course, if you have any of the suspension bushes on the way out or a track control issue then this will override any width issue - but I have assumed you have already checked this out.

What wont help is lowering the car! Again, my XJR-S had the full race set up with the fron end lowered to aid turn in - which only made its twitchyness on uneven surfaces worse!

Re: !

and I do know how to spell brake - honestly! I have been sat at this screen all morning and its beginning to show!

Nige has it spot on, its a known issue with wide tyres.

You could get a little more toe put on the car but then you risk uneven tyre wear.

If I were you I'd get the toe checked and get it set to the end of the recomended range. Most places set it to be right in the middle of the range.

I THINK the bravo is 0deg (straight ahead) +/-0.3deg. Get it set to 0.3deg toe in or whatever the actual number is. If you don't mind the tyres wearing then get a bit more, say 0.5deg. Its a suck it and see job though, find a friendly garage as you might be back a couple of times. :)
