My latest ride is this Trekking that's lived on the Isle of Skye for the last 39,000 miles.

Engine error light showing was cleared by a DPF specialist with a good ECU reader and the only thing he found was a clutch position sensor not where it should be. The light came on about 30 miles later so there must be something else wrong. I have done about 2500 miles since the last clearance so I went back to him as his reader is the best one for a deep dive. This time I mentioned the smoke trail I'm leaving going up a prolonged incline - whitish, not the usual worn-out-taxi kind of black cloud. That sent him to the exhaust pipe straight away and he asked if I've run out of AdBlue in the past. No I haven't though I've had a low fluid warning (only). He shone his light into the pipe and pulled out a chunk of crusty deposit, he said it looks like the AdBlue injector is stuck open and it's just burning it all the time.

So, question to the Qubo Hivemind, where is the injector located, is it easy to find/remove/clean or is the best thing just to fit a new one? Typically prices on ebay are between around £50 and £150. I could let the local indie do the job but I just wondered about DIY?

If that's not a potential solution what is? I've talked to 'people' who suggest deleting the AdBlue from the ECU so it is never looked for. All these things (AdBlue/DPF/EGR) are just sops to the green brigade but all seem to cause more issues than they solve and the resultant cacking up of the engine in one way or another is the end result requiring (even) more expense. I was well peed off finding I had to stick AdBlue in the car as it's already costly enough to run without having another 'tax' of a fuel additive that's necessary..(or is it.)

Any info helpful, thank you.
