Technical ABS trouble & Lines on mileage display????

Hi guys, posted a couple of weeks ago about cambelt etc.

Starting to think I may have bought a bit of a pig as it was fairly cheep (£400 1999 2.0 20v 72,000)

Since finding out I bought the car when the cambelt is due, also found out the ABS doesnt work and lines/brackets keep appearing on the mileage display intermitently.

Think the ABS bulb on the dash may have been removed as it doesnt flash up during start up or when I brake hard and the wheels lock up.

Any ideas anybody?

does the light flash when the ignition is turned on,if its just the handbrake light the brake fluid is low,i know that the a.b.s controllers give trouble i have 4 brand new spare ones if ya need one for free of course for a fellow marea owner

The light doesnt show at all, ignition or anytime. Thats why i'm inclined to thinking the bulb has been taken out to cover up the actual problem.

Is the ABS controller electrical? Is it small enough to post? Just noticed your in ireland

oh its prob the controller then, ye its bout the size of to fag box's send me your address and i'll send it off to ya when ya get it i'll talk you through the correct way to fit it
