Hi,
Ref the sim card it goes in the thin slot to the right of the screen.
You can get a sim card holder (if its not in there from fiat about £20) or what i did was get a simcard and NOT take it out of the credit card sized card that it came in . the contacts face to the left and push it all the way inand it will click home. To remove it push card in and it clicks out if that makes sense. Any sim card will work apart from "three" .I use a tesco mobile in mine and before that i was using orange.
So i take it you purchased the car?

cheers
( ps if you need a disc for the satnav....................;))

Yes Argonought it does have a factory fitted alarm, infact the original owner had lots of extra's fitted when it was purchased new. Here's the list of them the seller(second owner) sent me.

Upgraded Alarm £127
Sat Nav/Phone System £1191
Elec Rear Windows £137
8 Speaker upgrade with CD multi changer and sub-woofer £255
2 Tone Leather interior £680
Metallic "Techno Grey" paint £263
Louvred Sky Window £510
Sliding Rear Seats £170
Upgraded 17" Alloys £212

Oakley28 I'm happy with the £2700 because of the extras but maybe I will haggle a little :D

Nice - if the mechanicals are sound as discussed, buy it!

Yes we brought the car. Dam its in good nick! What a find. ;)

LOVE IT!

Booked in Sunday for a valet by a friend, will be as shinny as a new penny when he's finished with it.

Just popped round to the local 24 hour garage to grab a sim card. Slotted it straight in works perfect. Our car has its own telephone number ... :ROFLMAO: Thanks keviwal.

Booked a re-map with Angel Tuning for next week, miss the extra umpf the old car had. Thanks Argonought.

Just finished updating the satnav to version 9.8

And my friend is popping round tomorrow to give it the once over and a quick service.

I'm very jealous of your car phone :(

I avoided the NAV function on purpose as the portable GPS systems of today tend to be are far superior but I do miss having a car phone.

For all the features of a modern mobile, getting them to automatically link to hands-free car kit is still tricky. It can be done of course but human nature is that you'll forget - and that's when the phone rings - but it's still in your pocket :bang:

I've friends who drive quite expensive motors and they say a dedicated car phone is the way to go and even turn their mobiles off once in the car (y)

The wife loves it. Says the two tone leather and the incar phone makes her feel posh ... :ROFLMAO:

Your right, the satnav is near useless if your trying to find somewhere that you've never been. The maps are 2005 and the GPS can be 10's of meters out compaired to my tomtom 950(compared them this morning). Like I told the wife, all that matters is its good enough to get you home, it manages that perfectly well. Even the wife can find her way home if the satnav gets her within 200 yards of the place. (y)

Angel Tunning have contacted me again and asked me if I would prefer to try one of their Digital Tuning Boxes rather than re-mapping the ECU, should I, shouldn't I? Don't know much about either myself. I know its a bit off topic but not looking for a big descussion just a simple yes or no will surfice? :idea:

The guy I brought it off owned it for 4 years and didn't know the front and rear windows, plus the sky roof all open and close from the key fob. He was gob-smacked when I locked it all up after takin it for a test drive. :ROFLMAO:

Its a great car thanks for your help guys.

As I understand it, this is the system which comes with a 3 position switch;
  1. Unmapped
  2. Economy map
  3. Performance map
Obviously depends on cost but I'd find that very appealing (y)

Cost for:

Re-mapping the ECU = £250

Digital Tuning Box (Purchased from "Angel Tuning" but supplied by "Elitetuning")
Standard = £160
Upgraded = £180

The main difference is that our standard units although fully digital and utilising processers, they work from the moment the vehicle is started, and change the perforamnce values based on an average setting which is preinstalled. They are still fine tunable by the customer however, and still maintain the vehicles diagnostic protective functions.

The Upgraded units however allow

Cold Start delay - the average time your car takes to warm up (Temp needle to the centre!)

Threshold Delay - The time it takes your car to cool down from running temperature (Approx Temp needle 1/3 and below)

Flash units can be reprogrammed by returning to us, if you change your vehicle, or perhaps would like it to performa differently. For example If you would prefer more added ooomph around a particular point in the rev range. We will carry this out FOC during the first 8 weeks of ownership. And includes adjustments to the threshold and cold start delays.(After this period there is a small charge).
If you change you vehicle and it requires a different harness again we will make a small charge for this and reprogramming the unit - But still alot less than having to buy another unit.

I agree Argonought, an Upgraded Digital Tuning Box it is. But I think these boxes are adjustable in 7 increments. 1 being little or no power increase to 7, fuel and black smoke everywhere(I guess?). I'll let you all know how things pan out. Maybe a few photos too?

Thanks again everyone. :worship:

As you say Roy they are "silent blocks, to stop some of the banging from the wheels and assembly" not really designed for the twisting action the large amoung of travel the standard spings allow.

The rear bushes are hydraulic (oil filled) so they are designed for the twisting action of the rear beam suspension.

The first sign of them going is usually an oil leak from one of the bushes as I discovered on my MW whilst returning from Romania in July.

A number of Fiat/Alfa independents now do the the job for sensible money.

My local specialist only charges £275 for the pair and at that price is it really worth the possible ('guaranteed' more likely) grief of trying to do it yourself.
