The wife went to go to work this morning and the Stilo Abarth Selespeed was misfiring badly and it sounded to me to be firing on only 4 cylinders! So off she went in my trusty old Saab Turbo and I phoned the AA who confirmed the problem to be a faulty spark plug coil and promptly towed it off to the Fiat garage!

I will let you all know how it goes from here...........................

Yep, I had mine replaced a few months back by the AA.

He did note that the replacement was slightly different. The AA add it to their database, and if enough parts seem to fail, they try and force a recall. This seems to be happening quite frequently now....

If it does happen, do not drive the car for long, if at all - the risk of damage to the cat is so much greater.

Picked the car up yesterday and they have replaced the coil on number four cylinder. Everything is perfect now, fingers crossed.

For anyone that remembers a post that I entered on the Abarth seats, well Fiat have replaced the bases with new ones and they look great with no sagging evident at this time.

They also replaced the drivers door seal which has fixed the annoying wind noise problem that they told me was within tolerences! Just shows guys, keep on at them and you will get there in the end!

On the down side I had some rear mud flaps fitted (Yes I know they look crap but I live in the country and I am afraid around here they are a necessary evil!) I think the price was 13.80 to buy them and the total bill came to over 60 quid!!!!!!!!!!!!! I queried the bill and Fiat reckon it takes a trained mechanic 3/4 of an hour to fit them! Outrageous, does anyone know if I can appeal about such a hefty bill?

Cheers all

45 minutes to fit some mud flap! There having a laugh; that is total ****! 15minutes more like, id ask to speak to there service manager and query it. Hope you havent paid that :) 15mins is being kind as well bcos me and my old man fitted some front and rear mud flap to the old ders stilo and it took around 5-10mins tops!!!

It could be that it's a 'fixed menu' price. I once had a huge argument with a Vauxhall dealer when they charged me 15mins labour to change a number plate bulb during a service - now that was taking the p***!

I had mine replaced two weeks ago because my seats where sagging, the new ones are actually worse than the old ones. I dont know what they will do about it but there is a clear fault in the design. Mine is an active though, not arbarth.
