Technical a gearbox question I havent seen on here.

has or does anyone know if a mk1 Differential will be compatable with a mk2 gearbox ?

I cant seem to find the final drive ratio's for either to say yes or no.

any ideas ?

i dont think they are

when i blew my first gearbox - my mechanic had a scrap mk1 box with a good diff
he wanted to fit that to - but found out they differential gear (which houses the differential bit) was a different tooth count - which affects the gear ration

But it was a LONG time ago....

yeah, this is what Im trying to find out.

it will most likely fit per say, but I dont want to end up having a speedo mismatch lol.

Speedo mechanism will be diffrent, I think, Mk1 cable, Mk2 electronic sender, but should be swappable. Could you not swap the entire gearbox?

i believe all fire envine gearboxes are swapable
