First - can an old/poor condition exhaust (its not blowing yet!) reduce economy of the engine. I'm doing everything I can to keep mpg up but just don't seem to be able to break over 550 miles per tank.
Second - I seem to be using a little more oil than usual recently, regardless of keeping the revs low.
Since I bought it at 56,000 miles its used a small amount of oil and there has always been evidence of a very minor leak from somewhere.
Finally - has anyone ever taken off the JTD turbo and refurbed/cleaned it themselves? Is it easy? Is there a benefit? Is it better to leave well alone since its part of the exhaust manifold?

2001 Bravo JTD HLX 111,000 miles. Recent service included cleaned air filter, oil filter and oil change. Fuel filter changed in Jan 2010.

I wouldnt recommend cleaning the turbo, its a specialist job. Is your car pulling a 10.6 0-60. If it is then turbos probably fine.
Maybe your driving on different roads than berore.
I used to get 750 miles to the tank on my 105, long drives.

Hi Ned.

Its probably a little quicker thanks to the tuning box. I'm considering reducing the tune to see if that has an effect on the economy. I only us the power very rarely.
I'll leave the turbo alone then.
