I bought one about 3 months ago, brilliant bit of kit if you ask me!!
youtube .com/watch?v=EAug9N80jzw <-- part of my trip to work, the video audio is muted as the ZS had the mother of all boost leaks and it sounded naff!
Cost me £9 in the end, that included buying a 4GB memory card that is good for an hours recording..
mine arivved a couple of days ago and the memory card today so ill post a video up asap but i have a busy weekend so dunno when
musta just been me being daft, after thinking mine was fooked i charged it and it's fine, the sister has took my memory card though![]()
Link doesn't work mate.
^^^ As much of a good idea i think that is i doubt any young drivers would go for it. I would if the insurance costs were considerably reduced, i dont drive fast all the time or like chav so wouldnt have anything to lose.
Nothing to lose?
I recently went bumper to bumper with a moron in my car. He claimed I was at fault, two lanes merged to one and I hit his rear 1/4 panel & ripped off his rear bumper.
I claimed it was his fault. Insurers wanted to go 50/50 as there were no independant witnesses.
Despite having over 30 years' no claims, insurers only give me their own maximum (current one gives 75%) and I can trim my payments buy offering to pay £500 excess plus £150 compulsory.
My video footage of the incident clearly shows the other driver tearing down my offside and cutting me up (the frame before impact clearly shows his front wheels crossing the white line).
Result - he has had to admit liability & pay for damage to my car - scrapes on bumper & slight grazes to paint just above bumper.
So, I have saved £650 excess plus my premiums would have gone up by £100 (insurance was due whilst all this was going on & I had to agree the additional premium as liability at that point was undecided) - so I have saved £750 this year and however long it would have taken me to claw back the good will on the premiums.
As the accident occured through a junction where everything had to turn left, the repairer said he will check the car's geometry and wheel alignment. I also agreed that they could touch up the bruise on the wing (rather than the insurance's "respray) if they would touch up a couple of stone chips around the car (as they have to make up the colour anyway)
So when you think you have nothing to lose, like I tell others, you might be the best driver in the whole world - but there's plenty of idiots out there.
In fact, all those who drive like morons only get away with it because the rest of us are too worried about our own vehicles that we'll do anything to avoid the prang. I'm getting a bit fed up of dropping half my rubber onto the road to avoid these morons, not to mention all the additional wear to my brakes.
Ahh, I see.By nothing to lose I meant that if I were to have on installed I wouldnt have to drastically change my driving style or risk the whole system back firing on me. I cant really think of a downside to having a video camera system in the car.

And guess what I've got a spare of that's going in the back window
