Technical A/C Blower always on!

Hey all, new here.

Basically, it's blower and going 24/7 (accept when the car is off), as soon as there is power, away she goes.

It's a Fiat Punto Easy 1.2. 2013.
Digital climate control.

I've taken the fuse out now, so it's all so quiet at the moment, warm, but quiet.

Here's a video of it! Please help me, I have no idea.

As you can see; off does nothing as it always on. Fan speeds do not change, temp doesnt, that control unit is a prop at the moment.

Climate control uses a PWM unit to control the speed of the fan, if the controls are not altering the speed and the fan won’t turn off, then I’d suspect the PWM unit has failed and it just allowing full current to the fan all the time.

Hey! Thanks for the speedy reply!

Does this apply to all controls of the unit and not just fan speed? All knobs, switches and buttons do nothing on that unit, currently!

How do I fix this?

If the controls are doing nothing at all then I’d probably pull the battery for a couple of minutes to see if that will fix anything. The pwm unit only controls the fan speed not the whole unit

I pulled the battery for about 30 minutes to no avail!

There is a RESET for the climate units

Pulling power ( Black Earth clamp at battery..) is probably the best thing to try 1st

Okay, so I've finally gotten round to disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and then will try and reset the climate control!

Here goes!

Okay so!

Disconnecting earth clamp for 30 minutes had an effect.

The blower is no longer blowing at full tilt and thats with all wires and fuses intact.

What it does now, is light up and all that **** but nothing else! You can hear the directionals doing their thing but no response for any of the other controls or inputs. Can it be the resistor? Should I throw the car in the bin?

Does the climate control report error codes on this car, would save a lot of time if it did. If not time to dig out the schematic and check the inputs and outputs (not much chance of that if you are looking at the pwm fan resistor)

It would save a helluva lot of time, you're right there! But there are no error codes showing, no.

I can't find anything anywhere for a Fiat Punto Easy. Are they really all that specific?

I suspect any punto with climate control would be the same. The problem now is that Haynes has the idiot wiring diagrams that satisfy morons that can't read proper drawings.

There must be some dodgy fiat cd on the internet that has this info that the dealer would have.

As indicated in the first video all the button presses seem to do the correct thing.

The flashing when set to 16'C shows the sensors are working well as it stops when you switch on the air con. The flashing means it is picking up an ambient temp of above 16.

you say you can hear the direction motors doing their thing. At the moment it seems that the fan is not doing anything, not spinning up or down when you press the fan speed.

You can test the fan off the car to confirm it is working, but as it stands all the symptoms point to the PWM module.

This PWM module seems to be the main culprit. Are they a simple creature to work with? How do I go about getting one? I'm in the dark here but I am willing to get this sorted before the Summer is up! Haha

Would a diagnostics tool be any good for this sort of problem solving? I may be able to get hold of one!

You can see the climate unit in MES but not sure if it generates fault codes, the only way to find out is to plug it in and see.

As for the PWM there are no serviceable parts just pull it out, find the part number, wack that into eBay and see what comes up, it might be a shared part with the corsa as the corsa and later models puntos are built on the same platform. It’s also the same climate system used in a lot of cars from fiat group companies
