Hi everyone

I've just got my car back from my local Fiat dealer after getting a door lock fixed that had seized (£450 ouch and the dirty barstewards didn't even fix it! I kicked up a fuss and I've got to go back next week again for rectification work after watching them attempt to fix it again for an hour while I watched). The car has also come back with a few electrical issues.

I think they disconnected the battery for some reason (maybe to stop central locking popping up and down while work is being done). The evidence I have is that the clock setting is out. Also as soon as I started the car the fuel injection warning light was on (never had this happen before) but went out when I turned the car off and on again and hasn't come back. Also the digital mileometer reading display is just blank and not reading the mileage.

My questions are:

1). Could disconnecting the battery have somehow reset the ECU and the fuel injection light coming on be a symptom of this? Or as it has been sitting for a week and a half could this just be a one off blip as the car is cold?

2). What could cause the digital mileometer display to go blank? Could this just be a bulb or something more serious? All other instruments are working ok.

3). The radio also now stays on when you turn the ignition off - it used to switch off with the ignition. How do I get it back to the way it was?

I'm going to take the dealer to task on Monday on this and I'm so angry I'm thinking of stopping my credit card payment I made today due to the fact that not only have they failed to fix the fault they have caused others.

Some help from you guys in the know would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

ps great forum

The injection light is probably a combination of battery off and the car sitting, also maybe they disturbed something in the engine bay or it got a bit damp.

If in doubt yell at them and get them to put it on the diag machine to read the fault code.

Yes it sounds, like the battery has been off for a while. but that wouldnt cause the mile display to go out, but it would cause the radio to screw up.
keep us informed what happens

The dealership is Arnold Clark Fiat in Glasgow - a supposedly reputable name I suppose that's why this guy set up this site www.arnoldsucks.com - after yesterday I'm not surprised!

Can anyone help with how you get the radio to auto turn off with the ignition?

Thanks

Chris

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: A bit of advice from people in the know

To fix radio. This is for The '182H' series in mark I bravos.
With the radio off Press and hold the mute key.
It will then say 'IGN ON' or 'IGN OFF'. If you want the radio to turn off at ignition switch off then set it to 'IGN ON'
