Thema limits

Thema! Yessss...
(one of my favourite cars :))

I thought I recognised the pic in the signature.
And - I've just read the text! Hahaha.... now Track Racing a Thema... that must be like taking your Mum to a strip club...

(see pic attached)
I was made to remove the wheel covers after the first run - race regulations prohibit 'wheel embellishers' and (strangely) everyone else had alloy wheels  But mine was the only car with a *leather* interior :)

I broke the automatic transmission the third time that I pulled it from N to D with about 2500RPM on the clock (with the V6, I think that was peak torque!)

Actually the Thema was the first car I drove on the track where staying on the brake pedal while turning in actually seemed to make the car turn in sharper (with my other FWD cars, it would just induce understeer...)

It was also the only car I've driven on the track where white smoke would pour from the dashboard during heavy braking... and the people behind had to slow down early because they couldn't see the corner any more...

Sorry for being off-topic. Weber 36DCNF - excellent carbs in my opinion (y)
Oh sorry, still not on-topic... yeah well I couldn't possibly add anything to Smokeme's excellent post! :)

Other than, where can you actually get high-performance cams from for the (N/A) FIRE?

Thanks,
-Alex

The best and cheapest performance cam for the 8V FIRE engines is the Punto 75 cam commonly know as the fiat 866. After that you can go the C&B route but it goes to three digit prices very fast.

I don't think there's much else to add to the original question...unless someone asks more:p

As for the Thema, i'm working on rebuilding my site but the more time spent on it the less on the car...so it's barelly started(n)

As for the FIRE engine, i'm intending to do a setup that i will eventually like to run under the forum i most frequent in Portugal...we're working on getting it a bit more internacional but it's still in Portuguese. Address is www.fiatistas.com

Any questions feel free to ask...that's what we're here for after all:cool:

BTW nice Thema alexGS, it's looks like a base model in stock form though. Mine is a fully loaded 16VT with the automatic suspension, leather interior...you get the point, mine's a mk2.

Which cams? They are both worth it in my opinion, as for the punto 75 cam...i think you can ask a lot of people on this forum who have done the mod(y)

Are the 1242 fire engine's pistons and rods stronger than the 1108 as I heard that it's got bigger small ends etc.? sweet.

1242 has slightly larger pistons, rods are of the same type but larger.

From a performance stand point the stock pistons are not worth the trouble unless you only want a modest increase in power...say 50% depending on engine
