right been doing some searching and reading and think I'm going to put a 866 cam into my 2001 mpi seicento sporting!
couple of quick questions though
-does it need to be a cam from an mpi engine or will one from a spi fit and do I keep my original pulley for the sensor to work?
-read about needing the shims but not sure what this means as last couple of non fiat car cams I've changed have been either kent or piper?
-I know I've got to set the valve clearances to punto settings but is that all I need to do?
oh and before anybody posts about insurance I already know about informing them! I've not had a "standard" vehicle for about 25yrs and all of them have been insured with mods listed!
ta muchly in advance

Ah, the Porter Manual gives 0.4 inlet, 0.45 exhaust. If you need extra shims, Bug Mick at eurocarcare (in Derby) is your best bet, google will find.

Be careful what you buy -- should have 866 stamped on it, no obvious wear on any surfaces or rust. But if you're at the scrappy, nick the old shims (don't worry about the order, just as possible spares).

Thanks for all the info. Now know what I need to get!
Its got the micro ecu-is this going to be a problem for me with it having this one?!
Sorry for the late reply-been out all day with the better half!

maybe cc1 knows of a known problem, but I used multi ecu scan to reset the ecu to relearn and also done a phonic wheel reset, I only done the resets today though and have used the car for a week or 2 before.

Cool-in theory it should all work then :)
Local breakers has a few puntos in but they not sure which model so I'll not know till I get there!
A mates got the SnapOn Verus system so that should reset and sort out any ecu/eml issues-when I can get my hands on it anyway!

I do have a vague recollection of someone getting an EML light -- but pretty sure this was more than a simple cam change.

well I couldn't tell you about my eml being on because it doesn't work for some reason lol but there are no codes stored on the ecu or when its running.
when it comes to shims thought, if you can afford to wait go to big mick, I didn't have time to wait on mine and it cost me like £49 for 5 shims where as you could probably get the whole set for under £20 from him.

My injector light used to flash above 4.5k sometimes when not at WOT. The engine was higher compression and had a SS manifold with under car CAT. A German website can confirm that these Ecu's don't like the 866 Cam but they are fun. The higher the state of tune, the worse it gets.

Google translation.......
"IAW 59F in combination with 988er (886er) cam shaft

The named above, or even under Novitec camshaft camshaft known motor or the control unit makes the small MPI some problems.
The slightly higher stroke comes more air into the engine the ECU no longer comply with the regulation of the amount of fuel, so the check engine light flashes and it is placed one or more errors in the control unit.
One of them is the P0300 - random/multiple cylinder misfire detected. Is this bug is filed, you have problems with the next HU and their contained ASU!
The second error is that the mixture is too lean (I don't have error number just in my head!), because here the control range of the identification field is not sufficient."

what rpm do you normally change at?

Ah I see now why it would come on. With mine being totally stock apart from the cam would I still have that problem?!
Not sure what to do now
I would still fit it. It's just some thing to be aware of. I can't remember it coming on when the original engine was in and near standard.

I think 4.5k rpm was about 70mph??
The light used to come on between 60-75mph, so I had to travel at less than 60 or more than 75-ish when on a run. An indicated 80mph would be more like a realistic 75mph on these cars.

Some times it would stay on permanently for a while and then flash and go off. It stayed on for days once so I cleared the fault codes.

Depends how I'm driving!!! Normally around 2500-4500 ish! Does go well past that though if I'm running late!!

Think I'll fit one anyway and see what happens. Can always take it out and re-sell if I get any problems.
Thanks for all the advice
