Does anyone know where I can get a diagram of the break master cylinder for a Fiat Uno 60D Start 1800 Diesel L-reg?

The problem started when the breaks were slowly pressing down to the floor while I was standing at the traffic lights.

Push came to shove when the MOT was due, so I tried to get a new master cylinder. The scrap yards didn't have the part, fiat dealer couldn't get one. The after marker dealers can't seem to get the part....well get the right one.

The fiat dealer managed to get me the rubber set (overhaul kit)...I bet I paid way over the odds for that though...but I am not ungrateful.

I have taken the master cylinder apart and put it back together that many times that I must have changed something. I know I was an idiot for not taking a photo and writing a description, but I thought that getting a new part would indemnify me from needing a picture and description.

I can't seem to find a workshop manual to confirm that the diagram is actually in the book...... or at least a detailed description.

I think I would be ok assembling a master cylinder but this fiat 60D start is nothing like the run of the mill usual car master cylinder types.

The part has 2 different piston sizes, a whole array of washers and spacers at the circlip side and more complications. The rubber seals seem to be floating on steel locators (on the master cylinder piston). Just to mention the "unusual-ness's" of the unit.

My car isn't the best, but I like it. The rust developing on the body probably doesn't make it worth keeping working, but the car wants to keep running, so I want to keep the car alive and working. Apart from the breaks, the car should be ok going through an MOT.

Any person with a Haynes book that can confirm that the diagrams are in the book. Perhaps better yet, scan and email a copy to me, or photo copy and mail me the copy?

Many thanks in advance.

I wanted to add that the rubbers in the overhaul kit are the right ones. The kit comes from a Lancia car.

If you cant find any info from the Fiat manuals , check in the Lancia manuals.

Even if they don't show the exact model cylinder , construction photos might be close enough for you to get it back together.

Remember tho - Brakes aren't something to mess about with.

You MUST be sure that the master cylinder goes together EXACTLY rite.
If in doubt , throw it in the trash. - and learn from your mistake.

Many thanks for the replies.

I looked at the page Davren posted. The diag in the doc and my master cylinder are not the same.

My cars master cylinder has the holes for mounting to the servo unit as horizontal and not diagonal as shown on the diag.

I have two single holes at the top of the cylinder for the "tank" of break fluid.

There are 3 holes on the side of the cylinder, one hole for limiting the movement of the piston inside the cylinder (middle hole) and two larger holes for the banjo bolts going to the front and rear slave cylinders.

I am starting to think that the cylinder is actually a Lancia master cylinder as no one seems to know about the part I have.

Many thanks for the input though.
