5th gear problem

I have a fiat multipla. When I put it in 5th it doesn't register. I garage says cable needs adjusting. One says all new gear box. All other gears fine. No chunks or grinds. Help please.

Could be either. But I think the cable is much more likely. Fiddle with the selector box on top of the gearbox and see if you can get 5th gear to engage.
