Anyone with a 500x remaped? I have the 1.4 multiair and i am mot sure if it is a good idea or not. Bit confused as well with quotes i have received varying from £160 to £300 for the same job basically. Any tips? Thanks.

Not seen any reports of a 500X being re-mapped.

There is re-mapping and re-mapping so I guess you pay for whatever is offered and to your liking.

Someone a long time ago did fit a "thottle pedal" mapping module where you can set/change the throttle response and power delivery. For many this sufficient.

I spoke to 4 different garages..all of them came back with the same figures in terms of bhp increase. I just don't understand why someone will quote £160 and another £300 when the result is the same. Thanks anyway

Done the ecu remap couple of weeks ago and upgraded the air filter as well. In sport mode the car goes like bat!!! Consumption seem to have improved a bit...happy with the result!![emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

I might do the stage as well by fitting a performance exhaust ( not too loud) still doing a bit of research on this one.

For your 1st stage remap were you provided with any torque and bhp comparison charts. I would be interested to see the differences.

Whose remaps are you using and which model as starting point?

I'm assuming most of the difference between the 140hp and 170hp versions of the 1.4 multiair is down to programming. Does anyone know if that's right?

I believe that the 140 to 170 change is just a re-mapping job. In reality we are talking a +20%. Modest by many standards and probably does not require air filter, induction or exhaust changes. I don't know for fact but my gut feeling is that the turbo boost pressure is increased and the over boost valve relief pressure is increased TOGETHER with a fuelling increase.

What is (for me) of prime concern is the torque vs bhp changes. Generally when BHP is increased torque is reduced/moved higher up the RPM range. I periodically tow a caravan and the bog standard 500X is brilliant at this because it has a decent low down torque performance. (over 2/3rds of the torque of a 2L diesel multijet engine at a lower rpm). Also has that lovely 140BHP performance when you need it. Overall a pretty good balance.

SM remapping is the name of the company, i can't remember the software name. You can find him on fb and ask for the software name.

So it is the 1.4 multiair. The reason i choose this guy over other offers: he is mobile, he came to my address, and he is offering interest free finance. The total cost was £180, i paid £45 on the day and the rest in 3 monthly instalments.

In terms of service provided, well..he took a read of the ecu with his machine and send it to the company which creates the software. It took around 30min for them to get back.

More time consuming was the reading takings and the software run back on the ecu.

He fixed a faulty sensor with the start/stop system, he left the car with no issues/ faults.

About performance...it is noticeable that the car works smoother, less gear changing than before and as i have wrote in sport mode is really good.

BHP is at 170 minimum with this software, this is what I was told and in sport mode reminds me the A4 avant i use to drive in 2015 with 177bhp.

The air filter is suppose to be part of stage 2. I am still looking for options about it but i am not sure if i will do it.

I hope this helps.

I spoke with 3-4 different remapping companies. All of them gave me the same figures in terms of performance, their quotes varied from £160 to £360 for the same job.

No comparison charts were provided, as i wrote, the bhp increase is noticeable, especially when you build up the revs, say you are in 3d gear and you put your foot down in sport mode..it does shift!!!!

I am happy with the result. Even in auto mode shifts different, from 5th to 6th gear uphill doing 50...what a difference. I use this example because i drive pass a 50 speed camera every day driving to work. The camera is at the bottom of the hill and it goes uphill just after the camera. It does shift very well!!
