Technical 500X auto engine switching off when reversing

Any ideas please. When reversing in my 500x auto if I stop whilst reversing the engine cuts out and I have to restart the engine to complete the reversing. Does the car think I have finished when I stop reversing and automatically switch off the engine? In all other respects the auto box works fine.

Do you mean the engine dies as you stop with your foot on the brake?

Or the engine slows and stops as you are 'driving backwards'?

That will be the stop.start sensor in the brake pedal.. lifting your foot slightly SHOULD trigger the starter motor
It is a 2 position switch

Thank you for your advice I will give it a try and let you know.

Turn off the stop start with the right-hand most button on the centre of the dash just in front of your left hand as you hold the steering wheel.

Then try again
