Technical 500x 1.0 engine/gearbox noise

Hi so I have a 500x it's had this noise for a while now it's intermittent so not always present.
It only seems to happen when the engine is idling stationary when the clutch is depressed the sound goes away.
Any ideas of what this could be I've been told previously it could be the duelmass flywheel.

Yup, sounds like DMF to me, especially with it disappearing when you dip the clutch. As it gets worse you’ll probably feel it start to vibrate the car as well

Yes i have noticed a little bit more vibration from when I first got the car

It’ll probably be fine for a bit longer, i normally change mine when they become embarrassing at traffic lights I drew the line on my Mini Cooper diesel when it sounded like someone was trapped in the bell housing with a hammer! Dmf’s are a very expensive menace to society

It’s not done bad at 90k if still on original, a lot depends on how they’ve been treated during there life

It's not on 90k that's 9k I'm gonna see about getting replaced on warranty not even had the car a year yet

Lol sorry misread that bit! Yes definitely look at the warranty route with that mileage. Any mechanic worth his salt will know the sound within a few seconds of hearing it. Only other thing it could be is premature gearbox failure but i’d put my money on DMF. Either way it’s a warranty job

It's booked in for the 27th so we will see what happens I'll post an update what they say

Finally got the car back after 6 week flywheel and clutch replaced under warranty.
