General Electric 500e charging problem

Hi, I'm a newbie to the forum but have previously owned 4 pandas and now a 500e for nearly 4 years. The 500e has been brilliant but now the charging cable keeps getting locked in the port and also isn't charging when it's in there. It's been very cold and wet here (NE Scotland) and the door to the charging port was frozen shut yesterday so assume this is part of the problem. Car runs perfectly but is now saying service charging system.
Anyone else had similar problems at all?

Try using a hair dryer on the charging port.

Do the same on the charging wire (both ends) and when nothing is plugged in try a little silicon spray. You can spray on a cloth and wipe the plastic parts of any plug and socket to make physical removal smoother just make certain its not connected when you are doing htings!

Thank you for your replies. We tried all of the above and still it would not charge.
My husband eventually found this online which worked so might be useful to others in the same situation
