Hi everyone. I have a 2016 500X and the 5" uconnect unit has gone bonkers - displays Fiat logo until put into reverse then just shows the rear camera view whatever gear is selected. Cannot do anything else - no phone connection, can't change radio channel - zippo. Main dealer says unit is faulty and needs replacing but wants £900 just for a new unit, plus fitting!
I found a used one with radio security code. Is it just a matter of pulling the old unit out and plugging in the new one? Some are telling me the replacement needs to be coded to the car and only Fiat has the software to do that. Is that true?
Dealer says they won't fit second hand unit, recommends ICE specialist. ICE specialist says Fiat has to do it. I'm caught between them.
Anybody know what the truth really is please? Many thanks for any advice.
