2 questions, how easy is it to fit a 4x4 gear box, transfer box and axles to a non 4x4? How much weight will the rear axle take?

The answer you looking for is "REALLY DIFFICULT"

unless you've got a Seat thingy then it's ok cause they use the same shell as the MK1 panda with the leaf springy things that will take a live axel...

but hasnt the Seat marbella just got 1 leaf spring per side, unlike the panda 4x4's 2 per side?

It's a Seat Terra  .So a panda front end, really after additional traction for the back as it will be approx 2.5t altogether when I've finished with it. (It won't be going on the road and will have an annual mileage of about 1 mile)

If I am right with what you thinking of doing with it, then forget it.
You think he's thinking of doing a monster truck or something?... not sure how monster it might be in the end.

well i just got a panda, and i wanna convert it to a 4x4. surely you can just swap stuff over? or is it not that simple. i mean its a panda innit?

don't really care about the fuel tank or exhaust getting in the way (suspension I might be doing without too)

Steve - Your right forgot about trasmission tunnel (although there will be no standard floor passed the back of the handbrake)
