General 4x4 2 month challange

The two months was to get it running, not motd!
It has taken longer than I wanted but health, life and weather have all got in the way, my daily driver is a Scooby turbo estate, jumping back in the panda is an experience.

Does the difference show the Panda up or does the Panda remain a good car to drive in its own right?

The Scooby, you put your stuff in it, you put eminence amounts of fuel in it and press the loud peddle and point it in the direction you wish to travel.
Its easy, quick, painless (bar the fuel bill)

The panda I feel a dam site more like im part of the driving experience, if I dont do things right like change gear at the right rpm it will bloody let you know.

Driving a 30 year old panda is as about as far away as you can get from driving a modern performance car as riding a motorbike is as to driving a car.

Infact, im going to say that riding a classic motorbike and driving a panda are pretty much the same kinda experience - both result in oil on the drive, tired back and arms and a over all feeling of realeafe when you reach your destination

You did fantastic. My own 2 months was a year and a half and there are still things to do.

The satisfation of achieving this through you own effort is probably enough but we are all pretty impressed.

Well done(y)

Final update before I take some time off,
its road worthy, brakes are very good and I have coverd around 150 miles with no other issues other than a oil leak which I need to fix before doing any more miles.
Currently pondering over the quotes from the body shop for a full respray (orig color) at the moment, wondering if I should just get it done so I can get at least one show in or run it over summer and send it away over winter for shows next year....

Love this car - I was bidding for it on eBay.
But two questions: what's with the bonnet dice? and can someone please donate a mk1 grill just to make me love it even more?

Bonnet dice? There is a 13mm socket that I left on it when I took the photo? IF you mean why is the bonnet the wrong color, its because the old one was toast :(

Id love a mk1 grill but have been unable to find one :( it would be ideal if I could get one before the car goes off for its treatment.

Could have sworn it was a pair of stacked dice referencing your poker prowess. But now I can see it for the socket it is.
Sorry.

How hard can remanufacture of pressed grills be?... Without a press, obviously.:bang:

Is it not a mk1 grille then - I can't tell from the picture?

It should probably have the plastic one as a mk1 4x4 - similar to the mk2, but with only one side open and the rest blanked off. Back then metal grilles were seen as cheap, and the plastic was upmarket - hence the 4x4 and VIP got plastic! There are plenty of mk1 plastic grilles on Ebay if you hunt in Italy/Germany. (y)

Its the proper mk1 4x4 grill, there is a bit about it on page 3 I think :)
I like the mk1 none 4x4 solid one, I know it wouldn't be original original... But at this point the car is more for me than a show car

You're right junk the plastic. I found a genuine MK1 grill but gave it away to someone more deserving.
They do turn up. Mine was on Gumtree. (y)

Is £50 too much for a NOS one (including postage...)?
