This always works. Use a Philips screwdriver (not too big) hook the point in the hole and lever.
The spring slides down the driver blade and pops into the hole.
The bottom spring is a bit stronger but this is how I do it. Never failed yet.

I have come to the conclusion that doing the bottom one first is key!
That spring be extremely hard to pull!
I tried your screw driver method... I have a bent screw driver now

When I was an apprentice I was told that no one ever broke a screwdriver by using it as a screwdriver.
Hmmn. My screwdriver cost a fiver........

The thing is not to think of it as a screwdriver, now, but a special drum-brake spring insertion tool.... :idea:
And they all should look exactly like that, of course...!

I thought we were about to jump in to a story about how I had to walk 6 miles thou du snow to school and back after a 25 hour day down de mines
You are of course right, this was a cheep screw driver I got as part of a random walking though a store and there was a philips and flat head for a £1
Now, If I had used it for its task it would never have ended up like this :yuck:

Not a hard job, clearly you couldn't do this on the car. I just hope that these new seals do the job as my drive has enough oil on it already!

Large update,
Other longer driveshaft has new boots and a bit of paint.
New shocks!
Hub and carrier back on
New disks
Rebuilt caliper with a brand new new nipples
Otherside done as well.
And finally new shocks vs old
So its off the stands now and ready to be taken up to a set of ramps for a set of new lines

lol, that my friend is a funny question!If you look back a few threads there is a 3 page descusion on that very point as it had me wondering.

I would contend that they are on back to front - isn't the curve is supposed to shield the disc edge not present a bacon slicer edge to unsuspecting mechanics ?
Obviously my Pandas had been assembled incorrectly at the factory as the shields actually face a different way to these in the pictures above.....
