Technical 36k Service Price

Technical 36k Service Price

In the end it costed £321.72 inc a loan car for the day.

They forgot to re-set the service counter.

Then they take it back to do it.

Somehow it did not happen, so it took them 2 times plus the original go on the service to do it.

Now I've looked at the invoice and it mentions approx 3000 miles left in the front brake pads & discs. does that mean I'm in for a set of discs or I can get away with pads if I sort it soon?

 My Stilo JTD also due for service, 3 1/2 years old and only done 28,000 miles, One Fiat dealer said it must have a 48,000/4 year service and it will probably also need a cam belt!!!!!!!! not supposed to need one of those for 72,000 miles or 5 years according to service schedule, with a conditon check at 36,000. Rang round several dealers for prices, Horners in Burnley dearest (can't remember exact figure quoted as I rang about a month ago) was £310-330 ish, Sunwin at Crosshills were cheaper and Rayrigg in Lancaster were cheapest, about £270-280 as best I can recall, they all add extra to this for pollen filter!

As I am qualified mechanic and also Auto electrician (but always hated doing services and would rather pay someone else if the price is right!) I have decided to service car myself as its also now out of warranty. Rang Sunwin today and said if I bought all filters etc off them could they reset service indicator? "Oh I don't think we can do that" but its out of warranty, I'm using original parts bought from you, "Oh, no, I'll have to ask the service manager and you'll have to pay".......Well naturally I expect to pay, "the service managers not here at the moment, one of us will ring you back (they haven't)but I don't think we will be allowed to reset service indicator if we haven't serviced it" Explained I was well capable of doing service as qualified mechanic but as expected got no return phone call.
Rang another dealer, no problem, buy the filters off us, service it according to schedule and we'll reset the indcator and yes we can do it on Saturday mornings.....so this Saturday looks like a trip to Lancaster (y)

Its about right Pipers in Maidstone Kent want the same for my Abarth, But as it will be out of warranty by 36000 miles i'm getting it done by a private Fiat specialist (The Gonnella Brothers, Catford) they charge £185 + vat = £217 for a complete service including all parts and labour, So it's worth shopping around.

 no wonder servicing so expensive, went to get filters for service today (oil, air, fuel and pollen filters) Nearly sixty eight quid......B***dy H**l
Dread to think how much it would have been if i had got selenia oil as well!!!!
Highway robbery!!!!
Next service its getting after market stuff.....£20.70 for an air filter!!!!!!!
Good job its only once a year

Don't Fiat have to release instructions on how to reset service light to comply with EU legislation on competition, ie not a dealer specific operation? After 2002?

:bang: "I don't believe it" to quote mr meldrew
Trailed to Lancaster (50 mins each way) and got bits as in post yesterday, Ten minutes to spare this morning so thought will have a go at fitting pollen filter........Guess what!!!!!! WRONG ONE!!!!!!!!!! Gave them reg number and they supplied car in first place, stores guy spent at least five minutes studying computer and still gave me wrong part UNBELIEVABLE......
Every time I go to that b***dy garage I have to go back because they got something wrong, complained so much last time they gave me 15% discount off next service (they also lost letter of complaint!!!!!) Don't have any faith in them thats why doing service myself and they don't deserve trade.
Looks like another ride out, another b****cking and thats the last time they'll see me
Avoid Ragrigg Fiat.....once youv'e bought car there useless!!!!!!!(n)

P.S in reply to Stilo Ste, I thought Fiat would have to release service counter reset instructions under "block exemption" (ABE) rules

I thought that too.

I'm trying to look into it with the law makers for EU

That is the point of the last few threads - not having to go to Fiat to get it reset.......

A tenner seems reasonable to me. How else were you thinking it would get reset?

If you really don't want to go back to the dealer I understand you can purchase 3rd party diagnostics which can reset the service counter (although otherwise quite limited compared to the "examiner")

https://www.fiatforum.com/showthread.php?t=41389

Cost: £100 - £200

Take your pick.:)

That post is about resetting fault codes and the MIL.
It is not about resetting the service inteval warning. Info on this is what I am after, as I want to reset the 'Service due' type remark in the info display on the dash.
I don't want to take the car to Fiat, as there is too much hassle, and they won't do it easily and ask too many questions. I do not have anything to hide, I just prefer not to take it there. They have complained about doing it before and the cost is more than a tenner....

With my other car it is easy, press and hold the trip button and then turn ignition on and continue holding for about 15 seconds.

On Stilo I don't know how to do it and I want to find out. EU law surely covers the information on this.

The question is exactly that Argonought, how else can it be reset?

If you want to get rid of the 'service due' warning get it serviced then using examiner you can reset it.

Dont believe me,quote on Autodata...'service indication can only be reset using suitable diagnostic equipment'.

Forget about your other cars.....you need examiner!

We do it for free to good customers or tenner for anyone else:D

A radio code will cost you £15-20 so tenner isn't that bad, dont forget dealer is spending time doing this (who is to say service has been done anyway..if out of warranty this doesn't matter to dealer) & his examiner which costs thousands, got to recoup that outlay somehow!

Sorry Stilo_ste but the info you are looking/hoping for does not exist!

 Had my stilo serviced at main dealer last year, next day got in "service due" message on, rang up dealer said if just had service yesterday why reminder back on? They blamed it on software not upgrading properly!
Another two hour round trip at my expense and no compensation, recon they should reset for free when I service it this time......might try that:
