Technical 3-pin ECU diag connector.... HELP

I have a 1998 Marea Weekend, 1.6 Auto, and I too have the following wires on my 3 pin DLC:

-Red/White
-Black
-Lt Blue/White

I tried making a DIY connection between my 16-pin VAG-COM OBD cable and Fiat's 3-pin, but not only did Fiatecuscan not connect, I also blew the 5 amp fuse in the black 2-screw box on the firewall.

Q: Has anybody successfully used an ebay adapter on a 3-pin DLC which is wired with the above color codes?? Thanks!
Jeff

i got same problem, cannot connect to ecu, mine marea weekend 105, google and download manual, to many version, i tried 3 port on engine bay but still not connect. I use kwp2000+ protocol, connect to cigarette power as package coming.. or i need connect direct to battery?

it 2 wire; white/red, black.. the other 2 wires connect to power and ground.

does your K-line have a switch fitted ?
there is a different cable setup for airbag/abs and engine ecu.

I can connect to my ecu (2.4td) but have to move the switch before connecting abs or airbag
I don't exactly know which cables is switches, but I did read about it online before I bought my cable.
it's got something to do with the signal cable position on a different pin of the OBD plug, off course the other end on the fiat plug, is all the same.

Can any one tell me how much it would be for a new fuse box as ours has blown and car won't do anything garage said 210 pounds to do
