Hi - I’ve owned a 2015 twin air 4*4 Panda since new (now at 32k miles) and it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned. Love the thrum of the twin air and the surprising power. Love it !!!!

Today I’ve had it serviced in north east Scotland, whilst I’m up here on holiday with my wife’s family. As usual I received a video of the things they check.

The one major issue they found, was a hole/split in the propshaft centre bearing bush. What knocked me out is that they’ve quoted me £2,000 for a whole new propshaft to fix it. A very quick Google search returned what appears to be a similar component on eBay for around £35. Now I’m going to do more in depth research, though I wondered if anyone here has had the same issue and which was resolved a lot cheaper.

I’m presently trying to see if I can locate any official Fiat parts diagrams in case it shows a separate part and part number, though not managed to find a relevant diagram yet.

Going back home to Manchester in a few days and hoping to be able to book my Panda into my local Fiat dealer, provide them with the genuine Fiat part number if possible for the centre bearing bush in advance, so they can order it in prior to my visit.

Appreciate any information or experiences of forum members who’ve either had the issue or who know where I can find any genuine Fiat exploded diagrams parts list.

Thanks !!
Ian

Hi,
Use the search function on this forum. A whole host of 4 x 4 prop shaft questions have been posed and answered.
The genuine parts diagram I used to link people too disappeared some time ago.
Maybe someone else has found such thing.
Good luck
Jack

I seem to think Fiat only sell the propshaft and support bearing as one item but the centre support bearing is available elsewhere quite cheaply.

Trouble is, it's quite an involved process getting at it.
The two halves of the shaft need splitting at the UJ, so it's a new UJ when rebuilding it and the bearing within the support is a interferance fit on the shaft. ie it's jammed on and needs pulling off.
All the parts are pretty cheap, but it takes a bit of skill and tools like presses and pullers to get the job done.

Your best bet would be getting your shaft rebuilt by a specialist or get a rebuilt one on an exchange basis.

Des Shelley Shafts lists one at around £259.
