This car is a 1242cc petrol and is the last of the previous model.
When taking off with a bit a gusto the car is prone to a lot of kangarooing.
This is a known fault and can be corrected by an ECU software update. Something that is only available to a main dealer.

I would like to know if anyone has had this update installed and if it did the job it was supposed to do?

Also, did it have any other effect on the engines performance, good or back.
The main dealer claimed they did not know!!!!!

Thanks.

Have a look at my post from a few weeks back. I had lots of good advice including some from DaveMcT. I have used my Panda a lot more since this posting and I think it is doing better. However, I have booked it into a Fiat garage with the right equipment on Monday 10th October to get the ECU looked at.
I'll let you know the results later next week.

Manufacturers have been ever tightening ECU settings to meet ever tighter emission rule with old engine designs. The VW mess seems to have caused proper paranoia about emissions.

The result is soggy engines that use more fuel but they keep the rule makers happy (ish). The reality is that few engines can ever meet the rules in day to day use though they might pass the official tests. So you might as well get it remapped and have a car that's better to use and probably no more polluting than it ever was.

Ok, so I'm back from the garage after taking my Panda Eleganza in for testing due to 'kangarooing' in reverse and also driving slowly eg in a slow queue of traffic
.
The mechanic came out with me on a short drive and luckily the car did its usual jumping. I left it with him and he put it on some sort of diagnostic computer.
He has recalibrated the gear box and now the car is running beautifully.
I drove it home, through some slow traffic with no problem and backed it into the garage again with no problem. I can't believe the difference.

So it seems that whatever was wrong was something with the gear box which is, up to now, sorted. Cost £65 which I think is money well spent.
Hope this is helpful.
