It is indeed just a rendering. Personally I don't think it'll be anything like that at all.

Agreed, but it's the third rendering/artists impression I've seen which takes most of its style cues from the 500. Even the Topolino mule had the same rounded front. Seems to be a new house style.

It's obviously based on something else though

This is the rendering that's been around for years which seems to have started it all.

According to Reuters Fiats head of production has confirmed that the new Panda will start production in November so if thats the case we should start to get some more details (rather than speculation) before too much longer?

Like I said, I quite like it. The nice thing about the current Panda is that it has a touch of Utility/MPV/Off Road, about its appearance. It sort of says practical but fun. Those renderings are a tad too pretty.

Hopefully! Speculation kinda puts me off wanting to buy now... but doubt they'll introduce a 100HP version straight away anyway. Plus i'm buying second hand... I can always trade up haha

Im hoping they dont wait as long to introduce the next sports model (if they do one at all) as they did with the 100HP. I am also hoping that they use the 105 BHP 2 cylinder Twinair engine.

Apart from the sound, im not of fan of that 2 cylinder.. I would rather they use the cheap and cheerful 105 1.4 multiair fom the punto. A nice little fuel saving over the current 1.4 and instant throttle response. All the reviews tend to suggest that the 2 cylinder is not returning the mpg it should. Its just too small in my opinion.

Tbh the reviews claiming bad fuel economy are BS. There are people in the 500 section getting good figures now. The engine they're using is only the 85bhp twinair as well, there's a 105bhp one on the way too as has been pointed out.

Not bad fuel economy, just a long way off what Fiat had been projecting for this brand new engine and comparable to what is being achieved by the venerable 1.2.

How is the 105 going to be any more fuel efficient? If anything it will be worse? 105bhp from 895cc... mmm would you like some engine with that boost sir?!!

I would hope that the entry versions of the Panda will still use the FIRE at least for the first few years. There is no reason why the FIRE cannot be still be produced for the Panda now it is Euro 5 compliant.

Doesn't make sense to do that and have different production lines. Makes sense just to make a clean break and get rid of FIRE

I assumed the FIRE would be made at a central factory anyway and then be imported? I didn't realise the engines were all made in the same factory as the car. If that is the case then you're right.

One of the biggest reasons I bought the Panda though was its simplicity of the engine, I plan to keep it a long time and I know my backstreet machanic can do any work on this engine.

Blimey, that really is awful. I thought the Mini Countryman looked bad, but it's got nothing on this!

Let's take a step back here ;) The cars you're looking at in those pictures (the rendered ones at least) is the Brazillian Fiat Uno -> [ame="http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=fiat+uno+2011&wrapid=tlif130546320716910&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1008&bih=539"]fiat uno 2011 - Google Search[/ame]
