Hello all

New to the forum and new to forums in general if truth be told. so apologies if this has been posted before.

Having bought my other half a lovely little economical run around Fiat 500 we seem to have a a few issues to sort out. The car is a Cat S repair (rear quarter shunt) and all inspections seem to say its been well repairs to a high level however we have lights, lots and lots of lights.

Following heavy rain, which may just be coincidence, the dash has thrown air bag lights along with warning triangle and fault messages and flashing mileage. Took the car to a independent Fiat/Renault specialist who said the air bag ecu is shot with No Communication. An Ebay search many Fiat Air Bag ECU's for sale and also repairers. We sent the ECU off for repair but was returned and 'Unable to repair' with a zero charge to us, so seems legit.

We spoke to our local Fiat dealer yesterday who said her ECU unit 51782985 was discontinued and super-ceded with part number 51867767, however this unit has now also been taken out of production.

My question is, will a second hand 51867767 unit be a direct replacement for my duff ECU? Has anyone bought one of the many that seem advertised on ebay? What are our options? I know an ECU from fiat would have been around £750 so providing we dont buy more than 3 of the auction site ECU we're still not out of pocket but would like to know if any other Fiat 500 owners have had similar Air Bag Ecu issues and their resolve?

Thanks in advance.

Check the "scuttle area" at the bottom of the windscreen is it full of water?

The area's known to get blocked with debris fill up with water and the then overflow into the car through the vents and often soaks the air bag ecu
