Hi folks I'm new to the forum. Recently started having problems with the charging on our 1.3 multijet 2006 panda. the batt lights comes on and off and the charging comes and goes. Checked the charging rate at the back of the alternator and drops to 12V (batt voltage ) and then jumos up to 14V and back down again. Checked the small exciter cable and getting voltage when ign on. Thought it was the alternator and replaced. Same issue. Thought possible battery issue. Tried a battery. Same problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, and welcome, :)
sounds like you've done all the obvious things..
I'd be tempted to replace the main black battery to gearbox EARTH cable.. as they can break down..,

no other weird electrical stuff,
no stored fault codes, etc,

That's exactly what I'm thinking now. Going to earth out the engine with jumper cables tomorrow morning and see how I get on from there. Checked for trouble codes but none stored in the engine. I will put an update on after I have ran in the earth's . Wish me luck lol

Hello folks. Got it sorted. Turns out the new alternator was duff ! Got a lend of a Vauxhall one and tried it. Charging normally. Did a parts warranty today and fitted the cheap one (Vauxhall alternator 400 quid!) And it is charging perfectly ?
