Hi, I'm new to the forum.
i'm just wondering whether or not if my timing belt snaps (as I haven't got the finances to get it changed just yet) does my punto mk2 8v has its engine messed up. I have heard that some cars built around this time have a "protector" as such that doesn't mess up the engine. Is this true. Help please!!!!!!:bang:

Ohrite ok brilliant:):).
So what would happen if the belt snapped could I still drive it or would I have to get it replaced as soon as I could.
Ive had quotes for around £150 for belt change and water pump change.
Thanks for the reply by the way Guaje7

If its a 1.2 8 valve then if the belt snaps, the engine will stop i think, and you wont be able to carry on driving it, but it should just require a new belt with little extra work, rather than 'interferance' engines which can be wrecked by a belt snapping.
