Technical 2.8JTD engine cuts out

Thanks Paddy, but no, the inertia switch is on the earth side of the intank pump. My fault is the pump relay is loosing its neg switching thru the ecu. The van has gone back to its base now, we can't get it to fault, so they are going to use it as a gopher van for a while before putting it back on ambulance duties. Will post any updates.

Hi All, just an update on my problem vehicle. At this stage the vehicle has been back at work for 5 weeks, some of that active duties, as in rapid response (if rapid is possible for a Ducato). So far it hasn't played up, but I've been holding off posting this, or asking the fleet manager how the van is, or even thinking I may have fixed it, as I know as soon as I say it is all ok now, it will bounce back at me!! No news is good news. I'll give it another month or so, then bill them for some of my work. We probably had 80 plus hours on it over nearly 3 months, but a lot of that was simply driving round trying to get it to play up. Same old stuff, 3 other workshops looked at it before us, no success. We get lumbered with it, but nobody wants to pay for what we've fixed (or in this case, might have fixed).

Hi, help, i have a ducato motorhome doing a very similar thing. Cuts out when changing gear intermitently. Can drive 1oo miles without fault then fault 10 times in as many miles. Tends to do it more when changing up through gears but never stops when cruising on motorway. Occationally cuts out when decel to junctions or on long declines but moreso on gear changing.when it cuts out, injector light comes on but restarts after 5 seconds if ignition turned off then back on.
Did you ever conclude what cured your vans problem.
Cheers, mark

Old thread but was searching for info and thought i'd leave the fix to my problem in the hope it might help someone.
Had the same problem, engine cutting out intermittently sometimes it would just go a few metres half a dozen times then not start again others it would drive for days. In my case it turned out to be the negative on the fuel pump plug. Removed the plug then bent the negative female connecter together and voila. Problem resolved.

i would have started with the pressure regulator on the pump can you log or graph ecu data?

p0215 is engine shutoff solenoid malfunction which you have caused
by rewiring the relay

Hi did you manage to sort out this problem. i am having the same problem with my 2.8 boxer. it starts and runs for a bit but then cuts out

Hi , Im having issues with my 2.8 boxer as well. Keeps cutting out after running for a bit. What was the problem on the ambulance that you fixed
