I have placed a wanted ad in the correct place, but it looks like no one has been there for ages, lol, so I am taking the liberty of putting this here :D

I need an air filter box, complete except for hoses. I will need pics as I think there is more than one type. It is in an A class motorhome. I can't get the screws out of the lid on mine, and it needs to come out so I can change the reverse light switch. I may end up having to cut the top off hence the need for a spare one :bang:. I cannot get to it underneath, so over the top once more....Thanks.

Few options:
You can remove the rubber mounts from the bracket - you need a 10mm spocket underneath and a spanner stop the rubber mount turning and tearing. This allows you to remove the housing and you'll have better access to get the screws out.

You can use a vicegrips to catch the screwhead and either loosen it that way or snap the head off if it very rusty.

You can drill the head off with a right angle drill or drill adapter the remaining stub it enough to twist out the screws in a avice of vicegrips.

You can cut through the rubber part of the rubber mount to remove the housing once out you can proceed as above. Youobviously need to replace the rubber mounts- they are super cheap for landrovers thats whats in mine.

If its a write off. Older 2.5td, 2.8td, 2.8idtd, 2.8jtd filter housing fits so you have lots of options in the screap yeard / ebay

Hi Corai. All well and good,,,but its a Burstner A class, so access is pretty dire. Not as bad as some, but still bad. Can't hope to get a drill on the rear screwheads as they are well under the scuttle panel, no room and working blind. Also can't get to all the rubbers for the same reason. I am assuming (dangerously?) that if I get the box off, I will be able to reach the switch- this is not 100% certain. I would have to have someone hold onto my ankles, take a deep breath, and dive in all the way, lol!
