Hi Guys,

1st post so be gentle ;)

Bought a MH on a 2.8 JTDI. The prev. owner said the rev didnt work and he had it in the garage with some other work. But they forgot to do the rev counter.

So thoughts are is this a common problem on the ducato and what is the solution could a diy mechanic do it?

Also thinking was it a big and expensive job and the prev. owner said no leave it

They seem to be no other mechnical probs and it runs ok.

Hi
As far as I know this is not a common problem, I don't think this has ever come up on the forum. But there are posts regarding the Temp gauge playing up which have been cured by removing the instrument cluster & disconnecting & reconnecting the plugs in the back of the cluster which then seems to have corrected the problem - worth trying as it could be associated with the same bad connection problem.
see previous post on cluster removal - https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/227251-instrument-cluster.html
Note:- if you disconnect the battery you will need the radio code to enable the radio again, there should be a card with the security code on it supplied with the vehicle & also another card with the electronic code & mechanical code for the two ignition keys.
The radio code entry procedure is outlined in the owners manual or a PDF manual for both the owners & CD radio manual are available in the downloads section on the forum.
Let us all know if this works in case it comes up again.
Cheers
