Just found your site and wish i'd found it 6months earlier!!

I bought a R reg 2.0 ELX about 7 months ago with 64K on the clock, was planning to get the cambelt changed at 72K in line with fiats handbook
It snapped at 65K i'd only driven it 800 miles since i bought it!!
After several quotes the bill was £1150 for full engine rebuild!
OUCH!
Still, I've got it back now with 20 new valves in it!!

And even after all that i think its a great car, fitted a K&N inductionm kit to it, Sorted out the ICE too, got a Sony MP3 head unit, that fits into a neat adapter plate and works with steering wheel controls, and some JBL 5x7 Speakers in the front doors

That's a big problem...If the Fiat engineering could make some kind of valve reset on the piston head we will never get this full engine damage.I remember that this was a comum problem since the first Fiat 147 models back into 60's.... another thing, is that the Fiat police is to make as much as possible more money on spare parts. ( too much expensives)

Do you know where can we find a kind of reinforced cam belt? (race special one)

I'm asking because in terms of special products, your market is so more developed than ours.

anyway.... good luck Noel and post some pics of your car...

£1150 for full engine rebuild you where lucky sort of, some guys on here with your car have been quoted £1000 just to have the belt changed before its snapped they were told its an engine out job. I would recomend changing belt every 50.000 miles.

Hey N.E.Noel,

What model JBL's are they? And are you basically running them off your head unit? What's your head unit's rated power output?

Just thinking if I REALLY need an amp or not.

Cheers,

The Speakers are JBL GTO 7525E 180Watt (£35 on www.motor-world.co.uk)

The Head Unit is a Sony MP3 with 4x50Watt output, and no amp.
Sounds okay without one, the rear shelf speakers are the same size so may buy another set for there.
Dont know what speakers are in the back of the weekend though.

Why do i like fiats??

Wow, that's pretty tempting.

The OE rears in the Weekend are 10cm in size. Using high pass filters (capacitors) maybe a good idea as I doubt small cheap coax's will have distort-free bass responce.

HTH!
