Introduction

As promised here are a few pictures of my Sisley I picked up yesterday

I'm going to give it a good clean and check over tomorrow but I had to have a play with the 4WD in our field first :D
Well the Sisley now has an MOT for the first time in two years:slayer: It went straight through this morning with no advisories, as did the Mk1 yesterday:D Means my record of never having a Panda fail an MOT still stands:p

The Mk1 did have to give up its wheels though as the Sisley wheels are still away being blasted and powder coated, which has taken longer than expected, but all being well they should be done next week in time for Stanford Hall. The roof rack, tow bar and sump guard have been done in black and I will be fitting those over the weekend.

Must also give it a good service as its not had one for about 3 years now:eek: Has only done 700 miles since its last MOT though:)

Thanks guys, its been a huge amount of work but all worth it in the end, the Mk1 will be next, not sure when though!

Andy, I am very envious of the Snatch Panda, I'd love a 4x4 that I can take off road and greenlaning without being paranoid about damaging paintwork etc. Its bad enough driving the Sisley along the country lane we live on after the local farmers have taken their tractor through! Never mind proper off road!

Andrew, I'm sure Grumble will fly through with your level of upkeep(y)

Starting to look hard up now. Still in decent shape really but paintwork & cosmetics are starting to suffer, and I'm rubbish at that:(
Plus now I have to park it next to all these shiny restos like yours next weekend. There's some cracking cars out there at the moment, yours among them(y)

Epic work Freddie, they look fantastic

I will always love the MK1 more but the Sisley is looking magnificent :)

Just a word of warning, the MK1 wheels are of the offset which could possibly cause filler neck rubbing on the 4x4

Cheers Andy, yes there is something about the Mk1, its a brilliant piece of design (some of which is lost in the Mk2) and as basic as possible which is just how it should be. None of this modern rubbish like electric windscreen washers!

As I fitted the Mk1 wheels it dawned on me they might rub the filler pipe due to them being wider tyres, I didn't realise the offset was different though. Thankfully I think I have got away with it. The wheels will be going back on the Mk1 tomorrow and the Sisley will be on axle stands until it wheels are back.

Must have changed it then - all of mine have electric screen washers! Have you got a squashy rubber bulb thing? Out of context that looks all wrong......

:ROFLMAO:
Yes, it has a squashy rubber bulb thing under the choke cable and a colostomy bag under the bonnet rather than the spare wheel holder reservoir. Almost got me an MOT fail as the tester didn't realise it was there and presumed they weren't working:rolleyes:

Wow ok, didn't realise they'd changed that during mk1 production. I've haven't seen a squashy (you know the rest!) for donkey's years - I think the mk1 127 had it but that was early 70's & maybe the 126 (I forget now). I wonder what else was changed? (y)

I guess they must have changed it to electric fairly early on but I cannot be sure, what age is your oldest Mk1?. Probably quite a few small changes elsewhere, I've noticed some differences with things like brakes etc between it and a Mk2 but I've not looked closely at a later Mk1 so not sure if they were the same or not. Would be interesting to compare at some point(y)

2 are August 1985 I think, so a bit newer than yours. Brakes and steering feel completely different in a mk1 - I've often wondered what they did to make the steering so much heavier in the mk2 (when Mum borrowed a mk1 she commented how the steering was lighter than her mk4 Panda with the city button turned on! Progress hey?!).

I agree wholeheartedly, the Mk1 is a brilliant bit of design. I love the versatile hammock rear seat, the removable (to use as deck-chairs) front seats, the flat rear arches, the ribbed sides with their grey textured coating, though I could never understand why my car still rusted despite the durable coating!
One day I hope to find another, though it'll have to wait till the kids leave home, as there are already too many cars on the drive. You'll have to let me know the next time you're going to a show, I only live in Stafford so it's not too far for me to travel to see the Sisley and Mk1.

Not noticed that with mine? Will have to compare them when I have two sets of wheels again!

I will be at Stanford Hall next weekend with them both if you fancy the run down, not too far to go and is a really good show. I don't seem to make it to many of the local classic shows as I never hear about them until its too late, but if I do plan to go to one nearby I'll let you know(y)
