Technical 1972 500L Axle Size

Im ordering inner drive shaft inner rubber boots but do not know the size of the shaft. Where exactly do I make that measurement to determine if it is a 19 or 25 mm shaft?

500L drive shafts are the thicker 25mm size.

The dimension relates to the machined inner section of the shaft at the gearbox end. Because of the method of production the main length of the shaft can vary in diameter.
