I checked the North Ayrshire Council and Traffic Scotland websites yesterday and there's no road works planned for that area so barring accidents and emergencies we should be ok this year

Should being the operative word.
The Council's round here like to spring a surprise on people & stick road works in with no warning, as South Ayrshire Council did in my village. The closed off one of the back roads, couldn't find anything on Traffic Scotland or Road Works UK, so had to google search it.

I'm finishing at 3 on Saturday, so I'll have a wee blast out to Eglinton from Ayr & back along the A71 to Killie & then back roads home.

Back roads yes, I think every council is guilty of doing this but they do tend to give more warning for A-class roads. I think the problem last year was that no-one on the organising committee thought to check if there were road works in place. However if you're happy to do a test run it is appreciated especially after the fiasco of everyone getting lost last year and turning up late

Took me time to get my bearings last year, after coming down through Dreghorn I couldn't remember which way to go.... made worse when I have others relying on me to get them there...

But a Test Run/ Route Check will be done Saturday Afternoon, with a report on here when I get home.

Hopefully the new stilo(?) will arrive on Saturday but if it doesn't can you let us know please. Apart from you guys missing the show I was also hoping to hand over your new FS hoodie on Sunday and we'll need to make other arrangements if you're not there. So yeah, fingers-crossed everything falls into place on Saturday

Put me down as a maybe...although my Lancia and Spider are broke at the moment, no biggie mind. Lancia's got a leeky oil pressure switch and Spider requires a new battery.

Not long to go now and although I know I shouldn't tempt fate by looking at the weather forecasts I am and it's looking promising. Just as well really as we won't have the gas bbq with us and will be using the old faithful disposables. Oh and I've acquired makeshift stands to ensure this doesn't happen again

they're not ideal but better than burning the table :laugh:

Haha i actually burnt my mothers wooden outdoor table with one of them, never occured to me that setting something on fire and sitting nothing underneath it would burn the table haha.. I say it adds character

Wasn't ours then as we didn't have a bbq at last years WCR. That picture was taken a few weeks later at Balmedie beach

There were 8 of us there that day and it didn't occur to any of us that the flimsy stand wasn't keeping the bbq far enough away from the plastic table :laugh:

It's nice over on the east coast but I'll be heading west later today into the rain. The only thing cheering me up is that this is the forecast for Irvine tomorrow
