106 Driveshaft Removal Help/Advice

Hi guys,

so im currently in the process of trying to remove my front brakes and drive shafts from my 106 GTi.

Unfortunately im stuck. Ive got the wheels of, car is on axle stands.

Ive read the guides, used the haynes but still stuck.

1) i cant see the pins that hold the shafts on that i apprently need to remove?
2) i am using a 24" breaker bar but cant seem to 'break' the 30mm nut
3) any other tips in doing this?

i believe the hub nut has something you have to smack out with a punch. (it was on a 1.1 106 anyway.

yep the nut was punched, took me a good 15 minutes to unpunch it FFS.

What were they thinking when they designed it? stupid french!

hahaha lol at least your GTI is 4 stud.. worst thing they ever did with saxo's and 106 was make some 3 stud
