Technical 105jtd head gasket

Engine overheated on motorway (typically during biblical rain storm) This vehicle has just one warning light to tell you it has overheated which is to late why? hole in rad is the problem, after fixing problem on start up low oil pressure light is on which leads me to suspect head gasket, my question is would you expect the light to come on after such a short period and could the head gasket be the problem. I cant run the engine with low oil pressure so cant check for normal gunk in rocker box header tank etc, does anyone know where to get the tablets for testing for hydro carbons, also where is the oil pressure switch located I cant find it and am convinced it has not got one. Sorry thread is so long and thanks in anticipation.

The oil pressure switch is located below the exhaust manifold midway between Nos 3 & 4 cylinders - looks like http://www.auto-car-parts.net/search.html?key=7705830 and the FIAT part is 7705830 about £10.50

If your thinking you have water in the oil a look at the dipstick should give you an indication.

I had a VW Passat that over-heated and lost oil pressure. The problem turned out to be old oil that had hardened and fouled the oil pickup in the sump, caused by the previous owner not changing the oil very often. Dropping the sump and giving everything a good clean solved the problem.

If you caught the overheating early enough I would not have thought you have blown the head gasket. Remove oil pressure switch, clean & check the connecting wire is not shorting and see if the warning light extinquishes perhaps also changing the oil which will give you the opportunity to see if it has emulsified.

over heat was blown rad but after repair oil light was showing which is why I was thinking oil pressure switch however since posting question I've noticed loads of small bubbles in header tank which I think means head gasket (b****r)
