Guys,

Anyone out there that can do these now? any piggyback options? or is it a definate no go?

only one company does it-madeno racing in holland-good luck in getting workshop time as theyre in rally season at the moment. price from them total is around 1000 GBP. I ended up going with standalone from go-tech, the MFI-X. Original ecu still runs a couple of things like clocks and a few electrics. All engine stuff though managed by go-tech.

Sounds like a right bargain. Am guessing there is the potential to gain maybe 10bhp ast most?

Agreed. Has anyone ever taken the old school route of putting carbs on. Twin 40's would be cheaper and give more power if you could find a way round the electronic ignition?

Carbs will just drink fuel. ITB's are a much, much better option. Obviously will need ECU etc.

Or, if the stock ECU can take a bit of variation, there is going to be more to be had from cams, though the hydraulic (why oh why) tappets mean you can never rev it that high though.

hi yeah there is a couple of remaps/plug and play boxes about for the 100hp panda theres one called protoxide and tdperformance look for panda 1.4 16v remap instead of 100hp youll find them but protoxide are very good

i'd check the legitimacy of ANYONE claiming to re-map the 100hp engine if i were you BEFORE you go anywhere near spending money because to be honest theres a lot of people out there who say they can but cant or later it turns out the 100hp they remapped wasnt really an 100hp at all-word to the wise!

Tbh, if the stock ecu can take a bit of variance then why not focus on things, like 4 branch exhaust manifolds and cams? You'll likely gain more anyway over just a remap.

Though as I said before the low rev limit with hydraulic tappets is a bit of a limiting factor.

OK, but someone wanting a remap probably isn't going to be going nuts with head efficiency and getting cams that mean they want to rev their engine beyond 7000RPM. A decent exhaust manifold is about the limit for most and a remap does really improve the usability of the engine even if the power gains in peak numbers are quite small. I have the Mk3 Punto version of the engine in my classic Panda which can be remapped and when I had mine done at Red Dot I thought it was money well spent.
