Sadly the MOT inspector decided the rear subframe was too rusty and my little 100hp is now for the scrappers.
Any interest in parts ( will post photos at weekend
Wheels had been refurbished
Bilstein b4 and H&R kit fitted back in March
Engine/ gearbox just shy of 100k miles

Gutted

Aw man sorry to hear that.

I am after 100hp seats front and rear to put in my active eco.
Maybe also the rear lights. I like how they are a bit smoked.

You cant scrsp a,100hp for a rusty subframe.are they bespoke to the HP or generic Panda frames cus if so new ones are dead cheap......

That's a real shame, sounds like she was loved.

Sadly the stub axle plates are different. Here's a disc braked 100HP vs drum braked 1.2 169:

I agree with dukeboys, it does seem a pity to scrap a cherished car for the sake of a rusty axle.

I seem to remember a thread about a repaired Panda axle on here somewhere (I can't find it now).

Involved welding reinforcement between the spring pan and beam, if you can catch it before it snaps. Not sure if it necessitates removing the axle from the car.

Is it because the lip is in the way on the drum brakes axle? If everything else is the same, can't it be cut it off?

if I needed one thats what I would be looking at doing

I would take my old axle to a breakers and compare and measure, Certainly from photos it looks possible, might also need to cable tie some of the pipes

there were some universal axles on ebay last time I looked. Did both disc and drums.

the wider 500 axle does fit the 100HP just. You do need to add wheel spacers to the front and inform your insurance company. If you argue the correct axle isnt still made you might get away without paying a premium.

From what I can see with my Covid impaired eyesight, a hole can be drilled through for the ABS wire and bracket for the brake pipe could be cut off and attached with bolts or welded to the replacement axle.

I didn't look too hard but suspect this might be a straight swap

I can't see why not. Maybe I am missing something. Feel free to shoot me down in flame if you spot anything wrong. I am curious to know if I have missed something

says it fits disc and drums

£170 including postage

literally was the first I found with Google images, there might be better deals out there

The OEM part number for the 100HP rear axle is 51856918; that isn't included in the list of Reference OEM part numbers in the ad you linked to.

I think this guy is just a dropshipper.

I don't see how this is any different to the IM axles product, apart from costing more.

IM axles state specifically that the beam is for drum braked models only. They do make separate beams for the disc and drum braked 500's; I'm surprised they haven't made one for the 100HP, given that quite a few folks will want to keep these on the road beyond their design life, and doing this will likely require a beam replacement at some point.

There's two things I'd try before writing the car off.

The first is to give IM axles a call and find out if they know what's different about the 100HP beam. You might even persuade them that it'd be worth their while adding one to their catalogue.

The second (and the results of doing the first may shed some light on the feasibility of this) is to just buy one for drum braked Pandas, and do whatever needs to be done to make it work with the 100HP. I'd imagine this is likely to be easier than repairing a well rusted old axle.

Is that a Panda Beam compared to a 500 Beam?
The uprights stick out more on a 500 Beam, but not on a drum Panda compared to a disc Panda.

Nope

That’s a drum brake only axle left vs a universal axles drum and disc right from eBay

They List every model except 4x4s and 100hp

Does list 1.4 pandas cf4 v2 what ever that is ?
And 1.4 dual fuel

Do Check what is corroded subframe or rear axle , thread started with subframe corroded.

It's definitely the rear axle where the Right hand spring pan has corroded through. Left hand spring pan is happily corroding away.
