I have a Fiat Punto 1.1 SX with a heater problem ... only the third speed works on it (speeds 1 and 2 do nothing).

I recently changed the battery and since then the heater only works on speed 3 - I'm not sure if the two are related or just a coincidence.

I've checked all connections around the battery and all seem intact and connected as before. The heater "nob" is also in as good condition as previously (checked it just in case and found nothing untoward).

Any other points to check that could be causing this?

If only speed 3 works (full), then it is probably the resistor has gone.

It is located next to the heater motor passenger footwell, should be 2x screws holding it in with an electrical connector.

Thanks for the advice ... I'll check both the switch and the resistor tonight.

Any recommendations of where to get a replacement resistor and/or switch?

After driving last night I also noticed that the lights around the 3 dials (temp, speed, direction) are also not lit anymore - - I guess this has a relation to the fan speed? But only if I knew what it was!

Further investigation this weekend I think. Damn the dark nights...
