Hi all, read all the threads containing info on MAF & EGR but this seems to be a bit different as there is power all the way to 3000rpm and then it hunts around as if the boost cannot make its mind up. If you plant the juice pedal on the boards (as long as its from one gear to the next) the problem isnt as noticeable. If you feather the acc at around 3000rpm it will go that little bit quicker 
I did change the MAF as it was knackered when i bought the car and didnt have FIAT zap it on a computer.....can this be the problem? cannot see why as its only a sender (crude) with no light on the dash if it goes south!
