I read somewhere the other day that Vauxhall sell a complete EGR for £70 or so..

Don't know what the part number is, but if you manage to find out which Vauxhalls use the 8v Mjet then I'm sure you can confirm! Is a lot cheaper than the FIAT part too! :slayer:

Well just an update. I had the EGR replaced and everything seemed well... then a couple of days later I got the exact same issue again. The car seems to slip under light acceleration around the 2000RPM to 2700RPM in either 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear. However it does not do this all the time, when the mechanics replaced the EGR they did run the diagnostics over the car but no error codes were stored, although they replicated the issue during a test drive.

Anyone have any other ideas as to what could be causing this? It's doing my head in! :bang:

im having same problem, changed egr and was fine for a few days then started coughing....
took MAF sensor off and fixed it so thought it was that. replaced MAF and again, for a few days, all fine. Then back to spluttering again only on low temp (car, not outside). Once engines is warmed up fully its better but feels slightly restrictive.

Yea that sums it up... a bottle of diesel magic fixes it for a while but that may be due to the cetane booster rather than any cleaning effect on the injectors I think...

Is it possible, and dont immediately laugh at me hear :/ , that it could be something to do with the turbo, like boost sensor, dump/recirc valve, actuator :s only I noticed that when mine "slips" the dump/recirc valve seems to, well yano, dump .
I only noticed as I was driving next to a wall in second about 2000rpm slight whistle from the turbo slightly lifted off the throttle the enigne did its usuall jerk/loose power for a second thing but I heard the tscchhh at the same time but then straight away i heard the turbo whistle slightly again. indicating it had dumped all its boost and then spooled again straight away.
My thinking is that it probably does this in every gear but in second and third its a lot more noticeable, if you get what I'm saying

Has everyone fitted the modified swirl gasket to the EGR as well as cleaning/replacing it?

After doing a bit of searching this appears to fix the 'hesitation' problem between 1700 & 2500 rpm

Sorry no... the swirl gasket is meant to prevent future blockage on a clean EGR... It wont fix any hesitation due to a partially stuck open EGR Will.

Jury is still out on whether or not it will work.
