As above , anyone done this and if so can let us know what i need in parts and any tips ?

Thanx

Andy, i'm currently going to be doing it to my JTD this summer.

So far i have 2 sets of callipers, don't ask.

You will need.

2x Callipers (1xLeft & 1xRight)
2x Mounting Brackets
2x Disc Shields
2x Discs (New, don't recommend old ones)
2x Brake Pads (As Above)
2x New Pipes to the callipers (They are 2 piece each side)
2x HGT HandBrake Cables (1xLeft side and 1xRight side)

Also you will need the bolts required to fit it together.

I have everything except the Pads and Discs.

Don't sound too bad then , i know where theres a hgt being broken so thinking of stripping it all of that , whats the deal with the handbrake cables ? .

The Drum cables are too short, its a small difference in inches but its enough not to reach the callipers.

Will be fitting them in about a months time.

Well i'll probably have a go around the end of the month , tbh i'm fed up working on it at the moment , i bought it for a bargain price ( 1200 ) but have spent 700 in bits so far plus have spent 14 hours working on it solid since getting this one 3 weeks ago but it drives nice now as when i got it , it was a bag of nails ! but hey with only 43k on it should be good for a few years , reckon the only thing next year will be rear wheel bearings there fine at the moment but when dealing with back end brakes etc you could just feel a little roughness in them but no noise from them yet .

Joske, the parts you using to do this.. are they they effectively the same as the front of the car? As in same disc size, etc?

The discs are smaller for the rear and the callipers are completely different.

It has nothing to do with the front of the car components. They are not compatible one bit.

@ Joske - i take it i'll be fine using bits of the back of an HGT or are you using something completely different ? .

Yeah just take everything off the rear of the HGT. I have parts of a 2000/2001 HGT.

I bought the handbrake cables new as they are cheap. Same goes for the rubber pipes to the callipers, all new.

The first set of callipers i bought where off someone on here, however the person forgot to mention they where mismatched callipers so i didn't fit them. Then recently i bought another set.

Hence why i have two sets. Will put the others on sale seperately on Ebay.
