Hi Guys,
New to the forum, but have used a lot of the guides before so a big thank you for those!
I've searched through a whole load of other similar problems, but I haven't found one that seems to be near whats going wrong with my Stilo!
About a week ago my car stalled, came up with an engine fault but seemed to drive OK, so I made it home, checked the guides online and cleaned out the throttle body valve. This seemed to work great, the car revved to about 2,5/3k rpm on ignition, no warnign light, and drove great...
For about 10 miles
I had stopped the car for about 10 minutes, got back in and started the engine from hot, drove a couple of miles and had an engine fault warning light come up, pressing the accelerator had no effect, and the idling rpm bounced between 700 and 1.3k rpm. nn
When i restarted the engine the fault maintained, and the car continued to idle awkwardly, but I could use the accelerator for about 30 seconds before cutting out again.
When the RAC came out, they reset the warning, and the car seemed OK to drive home. I don't have the exact codes, but I was told the fault was the Manifold Absolute Pressure or Mass Volume Airflow circuit out of range.
Took it to the garage and they could not replicate the fault, so I took it away to see how it went. Sure enough, 5 days later this fault has come up again, under the same circumstances of starting the car from hot. Had the car towed back to the garage, and got them to give the car a full service and MOT as this was due and a service was much needed!
After it passed an MOT and had been serviced, left the garage with the engine still warm, and the same fault happened. Took the car back and they've been trying to fix the problem today. They've thoroughly cleaned the whole throttle body unit, and have checked the engines timing.
It seems a really strange fault as the car will drive fine from cold when the fault has been cleared!
Sorry for the long post, but if anyone has any suggestions or have had some similar experiences I'd really appreciate any ideas!
Will post if the garage manage to sort the problem!
